Whale Watching and Summer Concerts in Santa Barbara

There are so many exciting and adventurous aspects of Santa Barbara, California. Hotels and resort guests can sometimes find it difficult to decide how they want to spend their day once they arrive. This is due to the fact that many of them anticipate spending their entire vacation on one of the fabulous beaches, and while this is certainly a standard attraction, most people realize there is actually a great deal more to do and see in the city than what they imagined. However, any momentary confusion is quickly abolished by the idea that everything this city has to offer is incredibly interesting, fun or entertaining, or all of the above and you simply can’t go wrong by spending your time anyway you choose.

One of the popular, and even free activities in Santa Barbara is a favorite for residents and tourists. This is finding your way down along Shoreline Drive to look out over the beach and watch the Humpback and Blue Whales. Sightings of these magnificent creatures are pretty common and some people spend time there everyday. It is also a great place to engage in a little tai chi or meditative practice as there is almost nothing more soothing and emotionally balancing as the harmony between whales and waves.

If you visit Santa Barbara in the summer, you can enjoy one of many possible concerts in the evening after a beautiful whale-watching afternoon. In addition to the many free concerts that are offered by some of the parks in the city, major performers and concert tours also occur at some of the larger indoor venues. The UCSB Events Center is one of the city’s major performing arts venues and hosts numerous concerts and performances by guests artists throughout the year. Pat Metheny is on the line up for performances in April and will be at the center on the 20th of the month. This is a stop on The Orchestration Tour and will be the only night he is in town.
