Building Business Integrity
Businesses, both large and small, are an important part of modern society; they provide employment for millions of workers, they invest in the community, and they play a large part in the global economy, for good or bad. As much as business provides and takes from society, there is one thing that is too often missing — integrity. Integrity is what keeps those with power in line and ensures that innocent people are not taken advantage of. An honest businessman may seem like an oxymoron; however, it is possible and the effects would benefit both those in business and the consumer.
To run a successful business you have to begin with trust . Regardless of the industry, trust is essential to building a strong customer base and continuing to stay in business. If customers don’t feel that they can trust you, or learn that they can’t, they won’t come back, and will probably pass the word along to their friends and neighbors. If you have a chain or private dealers throughout the country like Southwestern Company your reputation could effect them as well. Whether you have a small local business or a global business like Southwestern Company , it is important to build a solid reputation for being honest in your dealings as well as having a high quality product.
It is unfortunate that many business people feel that in order to make their way up the corporate ladder they have to be conniving and sneaky. But that is not true. Strength and assertion are important characteristics; however, when you are dependable, responsible, honest, and trustworthy to both your fellow employees and your clients, you will make it farther in the longer run and feel better about yourself in the end.
07.26.10Denver With The Kids
There is something for everyone in the family in the city of Denver. There are some really nice places to walk and shop as well as some great theme parks to get some incredible thrills. When visiting a new city it is also fun to enjoy some of the museums to learn about the history of the area. Denver has all of these things.
The 16th Street Mall is the most quaint and interesting mall of the city because it is built right into the historical downtown. Ask the staff at one of the five star hotels denver has about some of the best museums in town. They have the Denver Firefighters Museum , the historical Molly Brown House Museum, the Colorado History Museum and then, of course, a couple of art and science museums.
A day of thrills can be had at the Elitch Gardens. This is the place to go for that summer super fun with lots of roller coaster rides and water rides. The kids of all ages are going to have a great time in every area of the park. The water park side has a fun pirate ship for the kids to climb and slide in and out of. The park also offers up some great live entertainment with a summer concert series.
07.22.10Miami Supports its Own
In a city as vibrant as this one, it’s sometimes easy to lose things in the mix. Coming to Miami, luxury hotels are as dazzling as they come, and for some, it’s enough to stay here and enjoy the whole vacation inside and at the pool. For others, it’s just a start, because there’s as much life out there as anyone has ever seen. The vibrant city has its share of talented musicians and visual artists, and the rich diversity of the city makes it a very inspiring place for creative minds. It’s difficult for anyone to find their way around in the arts community when there isn’t a big infrastructure.
With this in mind, Miami’s Independent Thinkers began. This is a non-profit that’s devoted toward building coalitions among the artists living in South Florida. They are particularly gravitationally compelling to independent visual artists who are working outside the gallery system . There are more of these than ever before, and some of the most interesting work is happening off the map.
Miami’s It, as they like to call themselves, are very active in the local community, sponsoring a host of events for visual artists and their audiences, and even do a festival of experimental film. If there’s a good reason to leave a gorgeous hotel, this might be it.
07.18.10Hash House in Las Vegas
The decline of the extremely cheap buffet has been a sore spot for Las Vegas locals and long-time guests for a while now. It’s not that the buffet is gone, but that in recent years it’s been rejuvenated to offer excellent food at reasonable prices. In the past, chowhounds could find half-decent food at extremely low prices, so there’s always something lost and something gained in change. Change in Las Vegas is part of the atmosphere, but so is nostalgia. In a pinch, guests at Las Vegas hotels can find something cheap pretty easily, but expensive food is easier.
For those who have decided that they want to know what it would be like to have a blend of nostalgia and the new, Hash House a Go Go is one of the better choices. It’s not necessarily cheap, but when the diners see that the salad bowls are much larger than their own head, it’s apparent that the money is well spent. The attraction here isn’t just the farm decor, but the dedication to ingredients that speak of contemporary food culture. The portions are also large enough that it is often much better than a buffet, because this is exquisite food that’s served with just the right amount of nostalgia.

A Movie House in Boston
Boston is a city that’s chock full of history. It’s the home to some of the most dramatic and influential events in the founding of the country’s contemporary government, and there are plenty of sights for history buffs to visit. Guests at Boston hotels are treated to all the sights and attractions celebrating the past, and the present is an awfully nice place to visit as well.
There are other histories that one can visit in Boston as well, and not the least of which is the history of entertainment and film. For this, the Somerville Theatre has some rather wonderful things to offer. Today, it shows first-run films, and guests can enjoy the fresh popcorn that brought people here in the last century. There are also other events here, highlighting its spirit of service to the community. Indie Film Festivals give local artists a place to show their work, and also offer the audiences a chance to see what’s new and coming up in the film world.
Its history, however, might be the central attraction, and it’s certainly one of the big selling points. When it began, it was not only a place to show films, but a site for live performance. Tallulah Bankhead has graced the stage, and Busby Berkeley directed here in the years before the Depression. It’s been part of the local community for generations, and it’s a great place to see what the next generation in Boston is doing to soothe their filmgoing desires.
