South Africa Has So Much to Offer

We made it! After 30 odd days of being jostled around in the back of a truck, roads that barely pass as dirt tracks and sleeping in tents, we’ve finally stopped in Cape Town. It was so wonderful to be staying at one of the best hotels South Africa can offer. Hot water! Sleep in a wonderful bed! It seem surreal.

The last five weeds were absolutely amazing. We’ve experienced and see so much that it’s going to take time for us to process it all. Internet access was scarce on our journey down the continent, along with hot water, so it will be a bit before photos are uploaded or even if we update our blog. But, don’t worry, in three days we’ll be back in the United Kingdom and I’ll be typing feverishly to fully document our adventure and loading up to 1000 photos, there’s possibly more, but, 1000 photos is a good round figure.

I’ll get you just a little of what we’ve been through, only to whet your appetite. Some of the highlights were seeing a cheetah kill in the Serengeti, which was a very adrenalin filled spectacle. Watching the Big Five in their natural habitat. Almost trampled to death by a herd of zebras. Spending a sleepless night in a tent surrounded by all manner of  wildlife shuffling and growling outside. Witnessing the most awesome sunsets when we were in Zanzibar. Being charged by a rouge bull elephant. Baboons steeling our lunch. Getting up close and personal with lions and finally, soaring over Victoria Falls in a helicopter.

I have so much more to tell you, but it will have to wait. We’re hiring a car today to take us along the coast, hopefully there should be a few tales of whale watching and great white shark cage diving.  Don’t worry, we have plenty of drunk stories to relate also. Bye for now.
